Shahi Paneer - Dhaba style recipe is a North Indian dish is known for rustic charm and royal taste.

Ingredients:

For Masala Paste:

Ghee - 2 tablespoons
Black cardamom - 3 pods
Green chili - 4 (slit)
Onion - 2 cups
Tomatoes - 3
Salt - 1 tsp
Cashew - 5

For Gravy:

Butter - 4 tablespoons
Tomato Ketchup - 2 tbsp
Salt - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1 and 1/2 tsp
Black salt - 1 tsp
Kashmiri chilli powder - 1 and 1/2 tsp
Water - 1 cup
Milk - 1 cup
Fresh Cream - 1/4 cup
Garam masala - 1 tablespoon
Paneer - 400g

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare the Masala Paste

  1. Heat ghee over the flame of medium heat.
  2. Add black cardamom and cashew nuts; Fry for 1 minute.
  3. Add green chillies and onions ; Cook until the onion is translucent.
  4. Now, add tomatoes and salt. Cook until the tomatoes are soft and cooked.
  5. Let the mixture cool slightly. Blend the mixture it in a smooth paste.

Step 2: Make Gravy

  1. In another pan, melt the butter and add the prepared masala paste. Fry for 5 minutes.
  2. Stir in ketchup, salt, turmeric, black salt and chili powder. Mix well.
  3. Cover and cook on a medium flame for 2-3 minutes.
  4. To make gravy pour some water and milk. Stir and simmer for 3-4 minutes.
  5. Add the cream, a little more butter and garam masala . Mix well.
  6. Fold gently in paneer and cook on low flame for 3-4 minutes.

Serving Instructions:

Serve this royal dish with butter naan, tandoori roti or cumin rice. For full dhaba experience, serve dal makhani and onion salad on the side.
