Besan Chilla Recipe- Cheela/Pudla

Besan Chilla
Besan Chilla , a delicious Indian pancake is made of gram flour and fresh vegetables. Suitable for breakfast or tiffin box, light and gluten free!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup besan (gram flour)
  • 1/2 tsp ajwain (carom seeds)
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 3 tablespoons finely chopped onion
  • 3 tablespoons chopped tomatoes
  • 1 green chili, finely chopped
  • Chopped coriander leaves
  • 1 cup of water
  • 2 tsp oil

Instructions:

  1. Take a mixing bowl, combine the besan, Ajwain , turmeric and salt together.
  2. Add ginger, onion, tomatoes, green chilli and coriander.
  3. To make batter, slowly pour water to make a smooth, runny batter.
  4. Heat a nonstick pan and grease it with little oil.
  5. Pour a ladleful of batter in the center and spread it into a thin circle.
  6. Sprinkle a little oil around the edge and cook until golden spots appear.
  7. Flip until it one side is done and cook the other side.
  8. Serve hot with mint chutney or yogurt.

Tips:

Besan Chilla can be made with a variety of stuffing with grated carrots, spinach or paneer for protein boost.
