Components:
For French Toast:
- 4 pieces of bread of your choice
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup whole milk or heavy cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp Ground cinnamon
- 1 tbsp. granulated sugar
- Pinch of salt
- 1 tablespoon butter
For Berry Compote:
- 1.5 cup mixed berries - blueberries, raspberries, strawberries
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon maple syrup or vanilla extract
For Decoration:
- Sugar Powder
- Maple syrup
Instructions:
- Prepare the berry compote
- Take a small saucepan, heat it on medium heat. Add the berries, sugar and lemon juice in it . Stir and simmer for 8-10 minutes until the berries are softened and the mixture is slightly thickened. Remove from heat and set to side.
- Make custard
- In a shallow bowl, whisk with eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, sugar and salt .
- Soak the bread
- Dip each piece of bread into the custard mixture, let it soak for 10-15 seconds per side.
- Cooking French Toast
- Take a skillet and heat it over medium heat .Add some butter after its heated. Now, cook both sides of bread for 2-3 minutes until golden and crispy.
- Assemble and serve
- To assemble, Place the French toast on a plate , add spoonful of hot berry compote over it, dust with powdered sugar and drizzle with maple syrup .
