Dry fruits paag, also known as Mewa Paag, is a nutrient - made of edible gum ,roasted nuts, seeds and aromatic sugar syrup. Traditionally it is prepared as a special offering during festivals, it gives healthy energy and festive taste in each bite.

Instructions:

  1. Heat ghee in a heavy bottomed pan over a low flame. Add edible gum and fry until it is puffed. Remove and set aside.
  2. In the same pan, roast dried coconut and makhana until they are crisp. Transfer to a plate, allow cooling, then grind in a coarse powder.
  3. Add a little more ghee to the pan. Roast Almonds, cashews, pistachios, sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds are golden and aromatic. Remove and keep aside.
  4. Add another tablespoon of ghee, then add raisins, chopped figs and dates until they start caramelizing. Stir in poppy and cardamom powder, then turn off the heat.
  5. Take a separate pan, combine sugar and water. Bring to a boil and cook until the syrup reaches thick consistency.
  6. Reduce flame. Quickly fold the roasted nuts mixture and other items in the syrup.
  7. Grease the flat tray with ghee. Transfer the hot mixture in it , press it firmly into a uniform layer and smooth the top.
  8. Allow it to cool for 5-10 minutes, mark the square or diamond and allow to set completely. Cut the pieces and store in an airtight container.
Offer each piece as a prasad, or arrange on a festive platter decorated with chopped pistachio or edible silver leaf . Enjoy this joyful, energy boosting sweet that embodies devotion and tradition.
