Mooli Paratha Recipe – North Indian Delight

Spicy, stuffed Indian flatbread made with grated radish, herbs, and spices. A hearty breakfast,brunch or tiffin favorite, perfect with curd or pickle.

Mooli Paratha
Mooli Paratha is an Indian food. In this paratha we user grated mooli or radish which have garam masala and whole wheat dough to make a hearty, delicious paratha. It is a perfect North Indian dish for breakfast or brunch, this stuffed paratha taste amazing with yogurt, pickles or homemade butter.

Components:

For the Paratha:

  • 2 cups of whole wheat flour
  • Water
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • Salt

For the Stuffing:

  • 1 and 1/2 cups grated white radish
  • 2 finely chopped green chillies
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped fresh coriander
  • 1/2 tsp ajwain seeds
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste

For cooking:

  • Ghee or oil

Instructions:

  1. Mooli preparing:
    • Grate the mooli or radish. In graded mooli and add some amount if salt. Now wait for 10 minutes and squeeze the extra water. It is one of the important steps for paratha preparation.
  2. Dough Making:
    • Take a bowl, take flour, salt and oil in and mix it together. Now add water slowly, to make a soft dough for paratha.
  3. Make stuffing:
    • In a bowl add grated mooli, chillies, ginger, coriander, ajwain and spices. After adding mix, it well.
  4. Roll and stuff:
    • Divide the dough into balls. Roll out a ball, place a spoonful of stuffing in the centre, seal and gently roll again into a thick disc.
  5. Cook the parathas:
    • Cook paratha on both sides on hot pan until golden brown, applying ghee or oil.
  6. Serve hot:
    • Serve curd, pickle or butter with mooli paratha.

Tips:

  • Use fresh radishes, for best flavor.
  • Remove all the moisture out of the radishes, to prevent parathas from tearing while rolling.
  • Add grated cheese for a protein twist.
