Egg Shakshuka Recipe

Egg Shakshuka

 Ingredients

  • Olive Oil: 2 tablespoons  
  • Large Onion: 1 diced  
  • Large Red Bell Pepper: 1 diced  
  • Garlic Cloves: three minced  
  • Fresh Tomatoes: three chopped    
  • Red chilli Powder: 1 teaspoon  
  • Ground Cumin: ½ teaspoon  
  • Chili Powder or Red Pepper Flakes: ¼ teaspoon  
  • Salt: To taste  
  • Large Eggs: 6  
  • Fresh Cilantro or Parsley: A handful chopped (for garnish)

 Instructions:

  1. Sauté the Base:  
    • In a huge deep skillet  heat the olive oil over medium warmth. 
    • Add the diced onion and sauté until it softens and begins to show translucent about 4–5minutes.
  2. Build the Flavor:  
    • Toss within the red bell pepper and minced garlic. 
    • Continue to cook for another 2–3 mins until they emerge as fragrant and soft. 
    • Sprinkle within the paprika, ground cumin and chili powder  in conjunction with a dash of salt stirring to coat the veggies .
  3. Form the Tomato Sauce:  
    • Add the chopped tomatoes  to the skillet.  Let the aggregate simmer on medium-low heat permitting the tomatoes to break down and meld with the spices. 
    • Simmer lightly for about 10 mins or until a rich chunky sauce forms. Taste and regulate salt as wanted.
  4. Poach the Eggs:  
    • Create small wells within the sauce using the  spoon. Gently crack one egg into each properly being cautious now not to break the yolks. 
    • Cover the skillet with a lid and permit the eggs to poach in the simmering sauce for 5–7 mins. The best end result is ready egg whites with delightfully runny yolks.
  5. Garnish & Serve:  
    • Once the eggs reach your desired degree of doneness ,remove the skillet from warmth. Sprinkle freshly chopped cilantro or parsley over the top. 
    • Serve your Egg Shakshuka warm with any  bread or maybe a side of rice to take in all the savory tomato sauce.

 Tips & Variations:

  • Smoky Twist: Use smoked paprika rather than everyday paprika to feature an alluring smoky depth.  
  • Extra Veggies: For a nutritional increase stir in a handful of spinach or add a squeeze of lemon juice at the end for a tangy finish.  
  • Baking Option: If you opt for a uniformly set dish preheat your oven to 375°F and switch the covered skillet to the oven for 8–10 minutes after adding the eggs.
