Chicken korma is a traditional Mughali dish. This is dish is popular for it's creamy, aromatic and light spice gravy taste. This dish has been mainly prepared during the festive period and at some stages of assembling relatives and family members in dinner. It is a perfect combination of spices, yogurt and nuts. Here is a recipe for preparing a wonderful chicken Korma at home.
Ingredients
- 500g chicken
- 1 cup yogurt
- 2 onions, finely sliced
- 2 tablespoons ghee or oil
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to taste)
- 10-15 cashews (or almonds), combined into a paste
- half cup milk or cream
- 2 tablespoons saffron-infused water (optional)
- Salt to flavor
- Fresh cilantro and sliced almonds for garnish
Instructions
- Marinate the Chicken – Mix the yogurt, turmeric, red chili powder, and salt with the chicken. Let it marinate for at least an hour.
- Prepare the Base – Heat ghee or oil in a pan and sauté the sliced onions until golden brown. Blend the onions into a easy paste.
- Cook the Chicken – In the same pan, upload ginger-garlic paste and cook dinner until aromatic. Then, add the marinated hen and cook until the beef changes colour.
- Add Spices and Nuts – Stir in coriander, cumin, and garam masala, together with the cashew paste. Mix properly.
- Simmer with Milk – Pour in the milk or cream and mix till clean. Cook on low warmth for 15-20 mins until the chicken is tender.
- Finish with Saffron – If the use of, upload saffron-infused water for additonal richness. Stir and let it simmer for some more mins.
- Garnish and Serve – Top with sparkling cilantro and sliced almonds. Serve hot with naan, paratha, or rice.
