Simple Tricolor Sandwich Recipe

Celebrate the colors of India with a fuss-free tricolor sandwich that is as easy to make. Carrot spread, creamy cheese and vibrant spinach pesto comes together between a pieces of soft bread perfect for snacks or party platters that are both delicious and festive.

Ingredients:

  • 6 pieces sandwich bread (white or whole wheat)
  • 1/2 cup grated carrot, slightly strained
  • 2 tablespoons roasted red bell pepper puree
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese or spreadable cheese
  • 4 tablespoons hung yogurt or Greek yogurt
  • 1 small garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup fresh spinach leaves
  • 2 tablespoons fresh coriander leaves
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • To spread on butter, bread

Method:

  1.  Prepare orange spread:
    • In a bowl, mash the carrots with a bell pepper puree.
    • Season with salt and pepper, then put aside.
  2. Make white layers:
    • Combine cream cheese, hung yogurt and minced garlic.
    • Add salt and pepper.
  3. Mix green paste:
    • Blend spinach, coriander, lemon juice, salt and splash of water in coarse paste.
    • Adjust salt and consistency if required.
  4. Assemble the sandwich:
    • Take a slice of bread.
    • On one piece, spread the carrot mix.
    • On the other , level the garlic curd mixture.
    • On the final , spread the spinach pesto.
  5. Stack and Cut:
    • Place the simple sides of the bread together: orange at the bottom, white in the middle, green on top.
    • Press and trim crusts gently.
    • Cut into triangles or fingers.

Plating and Styling Tips:

  • Arrange the sandwich on a white plate to mimic the flag stripes.
  • Garnish with micro greens between curved carrot ribbons, cucumber spheres .
