
Pudla or chilla is a savory pancake made from chickpea flour .Chutneys are layered and spiced with herbs and greens. It's a twist on traditional Indian street food, perfect for breakfast, lunch or a light dinner. Besan Pudla Sandwich is a super indulgence.
Ingredients:
For Besan Pudla Batter:
- 1 cup gram flour
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 small tomato, finely chopped
- 1 green chilli, finely chopped
- 2 teaspoons coriander finely chopped
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- Salt to taste
- Water
For Sandwich filling:
- Green chutney
- Tomato ketchup
- Cucumber cut into small pieces
- Tomato cut into small pieces
- Onion cut into small pieces
- Grated cheese
- Butter for toasted bread
Method:
- Prepare the batter
- Prepare a besan batter first . Take a bowl ,put gram flour, chopped onion, tomato, coriander, turmeric, red chilli powder, cumin and salt. Mix all together. Add water and make a smooth batter.
- Cook the Pudla
- Take a nonstick pan and heat it. Once the pan is heated, grease it with little butter or ghee.
- Pour some batter and spread into the pancake.
- Cook on medium heat until golden brown on all sides.
- Repeat to make 4-6 pudla .
- Assemble the sandwich
- Place a pudla in a plate, pour green chutney over it.
- Add layers of cucumber, tomato, onion slices, paneer and cheese .
- pour ketchup on other side of pudla and place them to form a sandwich.
- Gently press both sides and slice into halves.
