Besan Pudla Sandwich

Pudla or chilla is a savory pancake made from chickpea flour .Chutneys are layered and spiced with herbs and greens. It's a twist on traditional Indian street food, perfect for breakfast, lunch or a light dinner. Besan Pudla Sandwich is a super indulgence.

Ingredients:

For Besan Pudla Batter:

  • 1 cup gram flour
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 small tomato, finely chopped
  • 1 green chilli, finely chopped
  • 2 teaspoons coriander finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • Salt to taste
  • Water

For Sandwich filling:

  • Green chutney
  • Tomato ketchup
  • Cucumber cut into small pieces
  • Tomato cut into small pieces
  • Onion cut into small pieces
  • Grated cheese
  • Butter for toasted bread

Method:

  1. Prepare the batter
    • Prepare a besan batter first . Take a bowl ,put gram flour, chopped onion, tomato, coriander, turmeric, red chilli powder, cumin and salt. Mix all together. Add water and make a smooth batter.
  2. Cook the Pudla
    • Take a nonstick pan and heat it. Once the pan is heated, grease it with little butter or ghee.
    • Pour some batter and spread into the pancake.
    • Cook on medium heat until golden brown on all sides.
    • Repeat to make 4-6 pudla .
  3. Assemble the sandwich
    • Place a pudla in a plate, pour green chutney over it.
    • Add layers of cucumber, tomato, onion slices, paneer and cheese .
    • pour ketchup on other side of pudla and place them to form a sandwich.
    • Gently press both sides and slice into halves.
