
The classic Ganesh Chaturthi modak with a modern twist. This chocolate modak is rich in taste with mawa , chocolate chips and aromatic cardamom. It is made quickly in less than 30 minutes, they are perfect for Ganpati poojan or share with family and friends during the festive season.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup mawa (khoya)
- 1/3 cup chocolate chips
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
- 1 teaspoon ghee for greasing
- Finely chopped pistachio or rose petals for garnish
Equipments:
- Nonstick Pan or Heavy bottom Skillet
- Spatula
- Modak mold (silicone or traditional metal)
- Mixing bowl
- A plate or tray for cooling
Method:
- Grease your modak mold with ghee and put it on the side.
- Heat the pan on a low flame. Add the crumbled mawa and stir constantly for about 1-2 minutes until it starts to melt.
- Stir in the sugar and continue to mix for another minute .
- Now, add chocolate chips and melt on low heat until they are completely dissolved and combined with mawa, .
- Sprinkle the cardamom powder, and cook the mixture until it starts to becomes a soft dough.
- Transfer the hot mixture into a bowl or plate and let it cool enough to handle (warm to the touch).
- Take small portions of the mixture, roll them into balls , then put each ball into a greased modak mold.
- Unmold the modak and place on a serving plate. Garnish with chopped pistachio or rose petals.
