
Mughlai Moong Dal is a dal with a royal twist. Its perfect dal for parties and celebrations. It is a creamy dal dish made using cashew paste and cream added for extra taste.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup split yellow moong dal
- 2 tbsp. ghee
- 1 finely chopped onion
- 2 medium tomatoes, pureed
- 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
- 2 green chilies, slit
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 1/2 tsp red chili powder
- 1/4 cup cream
- 2 tbsp. yogurt
- Salt as per taste
- Chopped coriander leaves
- 1 tbsp. fried onions
Method:
- Cook the dal:
- Wash moong dal properly. Soak it in water for around 30 minutes .
- Boil soaked dal along with turmeric and salt for one whistle. Mash it lightly .
- Prepare the tempering:
- Now to prepare dal, take a pan. Heat ghee in it and add cumin seeds.
- Once they start cracking , add onions and sauté till golden.
- Fragrant:
- For best of the best fragrant take ginger and garlic past with chilly and cook it.
- Build the base:
- In cooked onion add tomato puree, dhania powder, red chili powder, and salt and cook it till it release oil.
- Royal richness:
- Mix in yogurt and cream or cashew paste. Stir nicely for a silky Mughlai gravy.
- Combine:
- Take boiled dal and mix it with masalas. After mixing dal and masalas cook it on low flame for 5-7 minutes. To manage the consistency add water if required.
- Finish:
- Before serving add some amount of Garam Masala, prepared fried onion and chopped coriander on top of your dal.
